E2 Forum: It is the personal encounter that gets the business moving

30 Aug 2022

E2 Forum Frankfurt, the conference and innovation forum for elevator and escalator technology, is about to be held for the second time. Due to the pandemic, the innovative format took a break and will bring the industry back into personal business contact with operators in the real estate industry, building planning and technology on 21 and 22 September 2022 further to its successful premiere in 2018. We spoke to Christopher Enders, Head of Brand Management of the E2 Forum at Messe Frankfurt.

The management behind the E2 Forum and its brand events worldwide: Kerstin Horaczek, Senior Technology Shows, and Christopher Enders, Head of Brand Management E2 Forum.

Christopher Enders, in a few weeks the second E2 Forum will start off in Frankfurt am Main. Can it follow on from the premiere after such a long time?

Christopher Enders: Yes, and more than that. The operators and suppliers of E2 systems are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to make business contacts and initiate cross-sector dialogue. And, to speak in terms of trade fair figures: Yes, with 38 exhibitors we are above the premiere level. That is a very pleasing overall status.

Furthermore, how do recent developments affect the E2 Forum?

Christopher Enders: Under the impression of the pandemic, of new geostrategic and supply chain conditions, it is true that some exhibitors have not yet been able to register again. On the other hand, several new companies have decided to come on board, including established companies as well as start-ups. The majority of exhibitors have opted for the second edition and will be there in September. That is an excellent signal on the exhibitor side. It will be interesting for the exhibitors as well as for us as organisers when we take a look at the visitor side: The shortage of skilled workers has affected the E2 industry and is taking its toll. We hope that the E2 Forum will increasingly become a meeting place for new contacts and young professionals, too.

What is new about the E2 Forum 2022?

Christopher Enders: On the exhibitor side, we have a great mix of well-known industry players and start-ups. And we are especially proud to offer this to our attendees in the newly renovated Congress Center (CMF), the professional setting for the exhibition, conference and networking dinner.

New, but of the usual high quality, is the conference content, structured in nine focal aspects. In the focus " Constructing and Renovation of Existing Buildings” (Wednesday, 21 September), for example, solutions such as modular building with elevators and hydraulic drives capable of modernisation are on the agenda. The requirements for digital infrastructures will be met, among others, by the lectures "Digital mobility solutions – connectivity for the future" and "Secure data communication of lifts in digital networks".

Christopher, what is your programme recommendation for interested operators and decision-makers in facility management of large and public properties?

Christopher Enders: I recommend the "three Cs": experience the conference, take colleagues with you and meet new contacts. This is the best way to enrich your own expertise and successfully implement your projects, because they simply run more smoothly with a constantly updated practical knowledge in a strong personal network.

This is what the unique concept of the E2 Forum stands for: The innovation forum for elevator and escalator technology combines conference participation, cross-sector networking and an innovative range of products and services from renowned manufacturers as well as from successful start-ups. All this bundled under one roof at the Congress Center of Messe Frankfurt (CMF).

A brief pick from the programme: From the operator's point of view, Vonovia will report with "VAO: Digital lift management at Germany's largest lift operator" and the operators of the Paris public transport system will report on "Maintenance supervision and predictive maintenance of escalators - Paris' subway approach". In addition, the high-level panel discussion on digitalisation and cybersecurity will provide new insights for all attendees. I am particularly looking forward to the keynote speech given by the Swiss-French star architect Nayla Mecattaf.

And don't miss the networking dinner, where attendees can round off the first day of the event in a casual and culinary way.

Thank you very much, Christopher!

Online conference and exhibition registration at its best

The E2 Forum Frankfurt primarily appeals to decision-makers in the planning, construction and operation of modern buildings and infrastructures in urban areas, such as architects, specialists in building services engineering (technical building equipment), the residential sector, investment, facility management and operation (e.g. of lift systems), public transport companies and airport operators, approved inspection bodies and lift manufacturers. Interested trade visitors can secure their ticket for the two-day E2 Forum Frankfurt online at www.e2forum.com at a price of 450 euros – it is valid for participation in the conference, exhibition as well as the networking dinner on the evening of the first day of the event (21 September 2022). The E2 Forum currently communicates the exhibiting companies on LinkedIn. The E2 Forum Frankfurt is organised by Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with the VDMA Elevator and Escalator Association.

Conference "pre-glow" with E2 experts: online panel in early September

Prior to the live event, the E2 Forum will provide initial insights into the current challenges and approaches to solutions from industry and building technology applications in the online panel "Requirements from the customer's perspective on IoT and data platforms" on 8 September 2022 (Thursday, 8-9 a.m.): For this purpose, decision-makers from major operators such as Vonovia will formulate their expectations from the operator's point of view and look at further technological developments with experts from the Elevator & Escalator (E2) industry such as Bosch Climate Solutions, Johnson Controls Systems & Service and Kollmorgen Steuerungstechnik. Participation in the online panels is free of charge at: www.builtworld.com.

E2 events for the building services industry

The vertical-horizontal mobility of people and goods in urban infrastructures requires intelligent and connected building systems technology. Messe Frankfurt brings together all relevant players who are looking for or offering market-ready solutions to these challenges and has, thus, created a network of experts that is unrivalled anywhere in the world: Building Technologies. In this sector, Messe Frankfurt organises a total of 24 trade fairs on three continents, including the two leading trade fair brands in the sector worldwide: Light + Building and ISH. Accordingly, the trade fair organiser is expanding its marketing platforms and conferences around the globe. Today, Messe Frankfurt is represented with five events for lifts and escalators in America, Asia and Europe: With the International Elevator and Escalator (IEE) Expo in the metropolis of Mumbai, Messe Frankfurt provides the platform for the growing Indian market. The E2 Forums in Buenos Aires (Argentina), Frankfurt am Main (Germany), Milan (Italy) India's capital New Delhi and Shanghai (China) round off the portfolio as innovation forums for cross-sector dialogue between the industry and operators in the real estate sector, planning and building technologies.

The E2 Forum Frankfurt will take place on 21 and 22 September 2022 (Wednesday and Thursday) at the Congress Center of Messe Frankfurt (CMF).
