Presented at ISH 2025, this talk offers an in-depth look at the EPBD and its transposition into German national law through the Gebäudeenergiegesetz (GEG), Germany's Building Energy Act. It illustrates the breadth of the directive's impact on new builds, existing structures, indoor air quality, building automation, and renovation strategies – while emphasizing the urgent need for change to meet climate targets in the sector.
The presentation highlights Germany’s current status, upcoming deadlines, and challenges in data, funding, and political frameworks. It also introduces innovative concepts such as One-Stop Shops, minimum energy performance standards, and the Smart Readiness Indicator. This is a valuable and practical overview for all those engaged in shaping the future of buildings, renovations, and climate policy.
This lecture is supported by FGK- Fachverband Gebäude-Klima e. V.
